Museo 20 de Julio - La Casa del Florero

Calle 11 No 6-94. A colonial house which displays the famous flower vase. It was here on the 20th of July, 1810, that the Creole rebellion against Spanish rule broke out. All because the owner of that vase, Jose Gonzales Llorente, a Spaniard, refused to lend the vase for the decoration of the main table at an event in honour of Antonio Villavicencio, a prominent 'Creole'. This incident was used as a pretext by the Creoles to rebel against the Spaniards, which led to independence.
