Bogotá is the third highest capital in south America after La Paz and Quito, the city is located on a mountain rimmed plateau known as the Sabana de Bogotá high in the Cordillera Oriental of the Andes Mountains, at an elevation of about 2,650 m. (about 8,660 ft.). If you come by air from the lowlands you may feel a bit dizzy, so it is advisable not be too active for the first 24-48 hours. The climate is temperate, but considerable variations in temperature can occur during the day, with warm sunny mornings and cold nights. The average temperature is around 14.4° C (58° F) all year round dropping to about 9° C at night and rising to around 18° C and higher when sunny. In the rainy season, there is less difference between day and night temperatures. The main dry season lasts from December to March, and the wettest months are April and October. |

Bogotá es una de las capitales más altas de Suramérica después de La Paz y de Quito. Está localizada en una
sabana de la Cordillera Oriental de los Andes, con una
elevación de 2.650 metros (8.660 pies) sobre nivel del mar. La gente que viene en avión de tierras bajas, debe descansar a su llegada por un período aproximado de 24 a 48 horas para no sentirse mareado. El clima de esta ciudad es templado, con un promedio de 14.4° C.(58° F). Tiene variaciones considerables de temperatura; durante el día hace 18° C. y aún más, cuando hay sol; en la noche baja a 9° C. o menos, según la época del año. Estas variaciones son menos acentuadas durante la época de lluvia, abril y octubre. Del mes de diciembre al mes de marzo es la época seca, en la cual, se pueden apreciar más estos cambios. |
